The Motor Seal is placed between the ESP motor and the intake section and performs the following critical functions:

  • Acts as a barrier between the motor and the well fluid.
  • Equalizes the pressure between the annulus and the ESP.
  • Provides a chamber that allows for expansion and contraction of motor oil during operation.
  • Absorbs the downthrust generated by the pump by means of the thrust bearing.
  • Transfers the torque generated by the motor section upward to the intake and subsequently to the pump by means of the shaft.

Borets motor seals are available in either an elastomeric bag-type or a labyrinth-style chamber, and they can be configured in a variety of tandem combinations to provide the requisite motor protection for any operational need.
